The book will be Scobie’s third book, and, instead of being a bombshell tell-all biography, the journalist’s latest work is a romantic fiction about a Buckingham Palace press officer.

Book publishers Sphere have described the 320-page book as a “fun, fish-out-of-water romantic workplace comedy” about an American woman, Lauren Morgan, who quits her job at the White House for one at Buckingham Palace. It was reported last year that Scobie has acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights to the book.

Scobie has often been described as Meghan Markle’s “mouthpiece”, having previously penned Finding Freedom alongside Carolyn Durand in 2020.

Whilst Scobie has consistently denied being a personal friend of Meghan, he has acknowledged that the two of them share mutual connections.

He previously said: “I am not [Meghan and Harry’s] friend and never have been.”

Once a celebrity writer for online magazines and now a best-selling royal author, 44-year-old Omid was born in Wales but grew up in Oxford.

When he appeared in a previous segment of This Morning, royal fans were surprised by his age after there had been a grey area over his real age.

Scobie previously denied lying about his age during a past interview with Tatler. He later, in around 2020, said: “I’m 38 years old, not 33. There’s a celebrity website that says I’m 30, there’s another website that says I’m 34 and one that says I’m 20.”

The magazine alleged that Scobie told him, “I’m 33, I just turned 33”, which was met with a message of congratulations.

According to Insight in 2023, Scobie’s net worth was estimated at between £800,000 and £4million, and this figure is likely to have increased in 2026.
