Farmer Wants A Wife’s Dylan Breaks His Silence on the “Major Difference” That Changed His Entire Filming Experience
Having earned itself the reputation of being Australia’s most successful dating reality show – with plenty of marriages and babies to back up that claim – it stands to reason that the producers of Farmer Wants A Wife know what they’re doing.
While spending time with a potential partner to determine compatibility seems like a no-brainer, according to some of the contestants, it’s not always easy to get quality time with their matches.
For example, Miranda Chopping, who was on Farmer Zac’s farm, told WHO that she spent only about an hour with him “the whole time” she was there. Jarrad Wrigley, who appeared on the show last year, also revealed he didn’t get as much time with the women after filming because of all the farm work he needed to get done.
Although the women and farmers are often not allowed to interact unless it’s on camera in case something interesting happens, Farmer Dylan has revealed why he felt that spending time with the women on his farm, away from the filming crew, was so important.
Speaking to WHO, Dylan shared how much pressure he felt to get to know the women on his farm and choose one of them in such a short time.

“I think that’s why it’s so crucial to have that kind of time aside with the ladies behind the camera,” he told us. “Scarlett and I, when we’re off screen, we’re like mucking around, paying each other out.”
Reflecting on just how much time the farmers and their ladies have together without cameras, Dylan said it varied on each farm.
“I mean, I definitely got a bit [of time] with the ladies,” he added. “They were really, really cool with me.
“Once we’d finish filming, I could kind of hang out with them as much as I wanted, but we’re all kind of tired at that point. So, I mean, I think you do get enough [time off camera], you always want more, but at the end of the day, by the time you finish filming and you have a yarn for a bit, [then it’s] time to go to bed.”

Does farmwork get in the way of fraternizing?
Dylan’s experience definitely doesn’t seem to be the norm, with Wrigley telling us that his time with his women was limited by the legitimate demands of running a farm.
“I wish we could have been doing a little bit more farm work, like I ended up having to after filming would wrap each day,” he explained. “I’d have to work for three or four hours in the dark and just try to get some things done before I could actually go and hang out with the girls, but that’s just what you have to do, you know.”

“I do get it, you know, at the end of the day, it’s a show about dating, and for the most part, what people want to see is some love story… but I don’t know, I do think it’s important to showcase agriculture.”
“But you know, there’s times where it’s like, do you really want to watch a show, and everybody’s fencing all day?”
