The Australian man who died after he was found hanging from his bedsheet on a Balinese hotel balcony has been identified as Jamie Cusack.
The 30-year-old was found by his girlfriend on their hotel balcony in the popular tourist hub of Seminyak about 4.15am on Wednesday.
He is said to have been barely breathing, with his girlfriend notifying hotel staff who called paramedics.
‘When found, the victim was still breathing. However, he was unconscious when taken to Siloam hospital (in Denpasar),’ Denpasar Police spokesperson, Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, said.
Mr Cusack then sadly died in hospital about 8am.
It’s understood he had earlier rowed with his girlfriend after a night out drinking in Seminyak.
In a heartbreaking post on Facebook, Mr Cusack’s mother called for people to be ‘respectful’ as speculation circulated over the events leading up to his death.
‘This is my beautiful son and there is far more to this story, do NOT believe everything you read, there is incorrect information in this report!’ she said. ‘People be respectful there are people that love him and there are lots of people devastated.’

A GoFundMe has now been launched to raise funds to help his family bring his body home
His heartbroken girlfriend, Jess Grigora, has now launched a GoFundMe to help raise funds to bring his body back to Australia and organise a funeral service.
‘He meant so much to so many, and his loss has left a deep void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him,’ Ms Grigora said.
‘Jamie had the most infectious smile and a cheeky sense of humour that people were naturally drawn to. He loved and cared deeply for his family and friends, always bringing warmth, laughter and light into every room.
‘He loved a good bit of rugby league, a chicken parmi, and being surrounded by the people he loved most.’
Ms Grigora also posted a photo tribute of Mr Cusack, with the words: ‘My love. You’re always going to be with me, I know it.’
It’s believed Mr Cusack was living on Queensland’s Gold Coast at the time of his death.
Police confirmed they are actively investigating his death.
Daily Mail has contacted the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for comment.
