Meghan Markle and her family have a special way to celebrate Mother’s Day in the U.K.
Mothering Sunday is the British equivalent of Mother’s Day in the U.S., celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent each year, and in March 2025, the Duchess of Sussex revealed how her family marks the holiday.
“Our family tradition. Mothering Sunday in the UK 🍋,” Meghan, 44, captioned a snap of what appeared to be a homemade pie on her Instagram page.
The shot showed the treat topped with citrus slices and a decorative red flower, as both the hands of a child and an adult held the plate.
Meghan and Prince Harry are parents to two children, son Prince Archie, 6, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 4. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are raising their kids in California after stepping back from their royal roles in the U.K. in 2020, and Meghan has previously gotten Archie and Lilibet involved in the kitchen at home, helping her bake and create.
Exclusively speaking to PEOPLE in 2025, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about returning to some of her creative passions as her children grew older. Last year was a big year for Meghan in business, as she unveiled her As ever lifestyle brand and starred in two seasons of With Love, Meghan on Netflix, plus a holiday special of the lifestyle series.
“When your children get to a certain age — when you’re not just playing in the sandbox with them but almost playing in your own sandbox again — it’s super joyful,” the Duchess of Sussex told PEOPLE at the time.
“As a woman, a mom and a wife, to be able to find yourself again — in a way that was always present but that you maybe couldn’t put as much attention on as you now can when your kids are a little bit older — is a wonderful feeling,” she added.
Meghan also touched on the connection she and Harry have found in the Montecito community, who have gotten to know her through school drop-offs and playdates with Archie and Lilibet. In the process, Meghan says Montecito has become protective of her family.
“Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation is,” she told PEOPLE.
