THE Pima County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a woman wanted in a kidnapping case roughly seven miles away from Nancy Guthrie’s home.

The sheriff’s office has been searching for Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, since she vanished on February 1.

Authorities are currently on the hunt for Coral Michelle Smith, 40, who is wanted in connection with an aggravated assault and kidnapping case, according to a wanted poster.

The alleged kidnapping occurred on May 29 at an intersection located roughly 6.8 miles from Guthrie’s home in the Catalina Foothills, Fox News reported.

The woman has a long criminal history in Arizona’s Pima County, with court cases going back to 2010.

She is known for going by several aliases, including Coral Albright-Smith, Corral Albright and Under The Sea Smith, according to local Arizona outlet KOLD.

Throughout the years she has been found guilty of robbery, disorderly conduct, attempted vehicle theft and aggravated assault.

She previously faced kidnapping and drug charges in 2019, but they were dismissed, KOLD reported.

“This case is not related to the Guthrie investigation,” the Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to The U.S. Sun.

As for the Guthrie investigation, the sheriff’s office said it remains active and ongoing.

“Forensic analysis of video and DNA evidence remains underway,” officials said.

“If and when there is a significant development in this case, it will be shared with the public.”

Guthrie was abducted from her home in Arizona in the middle of the night after her daughter, Annie, and Annie’s husband Tommaso Cioni, dropped her off just before 10pm.

A suspect has not yet been named in her abduction, however, a slight breakthrough in the case came in February after security camera footage from her home showed a man outside her front door around 2am.

The masked man was armed and wearing a backpack and gloves.

Authorities discovered a trail of blood outside of Guthrie’s home and observed the back door was propped open.

A glove with a DNA profile was also found at the scene and has undergone forensic testing.

Multiple people were detained in connection to her case but were ultimately released.

Savannah fought back tears on the Today show on Monday as she shared how difficult it was to return to work amid her mom’s disappearance.

“It’s been really hard to come back. I’m trying so hard to hold it together,” she told fellow Today star Jenna Bush Hager.

“I’m happy to be back. It’s like the two hours of my day that – it’s not that I’m not thinking about it because I am, but it’s something to do. It brings me a lot of joy to be with everybody, but no, it’s not easy.”

Since the investigation began, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office has come under fire several times for its handling of the case, with FBI Director Kash Patel accusing the department of keeping federal authorities out in the early days of the search.
