A Ferrari driver has died, and his female passenger is fighting for life after the luxury sports car crashed into a tree and rolled in Victoria’s Gippsland region.
Emergency services were called to Main Neerim Road at Neerim South, north of Warragul, at about midday today after reports of a serious single-vehicle crash.
Police said the Ferrari lost control before slamming into a tree and flipping onto its roof.
The male driver died at the scene despite the efforts of emergency crews.
His passenger, a woman believed to be in her 70s, suffered life-threatening upper body injuries.
She was flown to Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital by air ambulance and remains in a serious condition.
Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
