Anybody looking for their next all-day binge-watch can look no more as Netflix’s latest thriller series Black Rabbit has premiered on the platform and viewers are already hailing it a ‘masterpiece’.

The eight-episode series is set in New York’s high-pressure nightlife scene and follows two brothers who are pushed to the brink by their duty to family and their pursuit of success. Jude Law plays the charismatic owner of the restaurant and VIP lounge Black Rabbit, but when his brother, who’s played by Jason Bateman, unexpectedly returns to the business, trouble isn’t far behind both of them. What ensues is a fast-paced ‘binge-worthy’ affair that has catapulted the limited series to the number one slot in the UK on Netflix since its premiere on the platform on September 18.

Of course, with a cast lead by Law and Bateman, it’s perhaps of little surprise that viewers are revering the show. This is everything you need to know about the series.

What is Black Rabbit about?
Per the official Netflix log line, Black Rabbit tells the story of ‘Jake Friedken (Jude Law), the up-and-coming restaurateur behind Black Rabbit, a shining New York City hotspot. He started the eatery with his brother Vince (Jason Bateman), but the troubled Vince has been off the grid for years now. When he returns to New York, he quickly drags Jake down a whirlpool of deceit into the city’s criminal underworld, jeopardising Black Rabbit and everything else Jake has built.’

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, one of the series’ creators, Zach Baylin said: ‘Kate [Susman, one of the series’ co-creators] and I were both interested in the idea of a restaurant being this epicentre of a city and a meeting place for all different kinds of people and a second home to others. We started narrowing down who these characters were and that the show would be about two brothers, Jake and Vince.’
Who stars in Black Rabbit?

Alongside the two titular brothers, played by Law and Bateman, are Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Odessa Young and Robin de Jesús, to name just a few.
Will there be a season two of Black Rabbit?
Given that the show has been described as a limited series, which would mean the story concludes within the season’s eight episode span, it would be easy to assume that Black Rabbit will be a one-hit wonder. However, given the precedent set by previous limited series created by the platform including Nobody Wants This and Bridgerton, Netflix may well respond to the rapturous praise from audiences by greenlighting a second season. Who knows what could happen for Black Rabbit? Watch this space.
Black Rabbit is available to stream now on Netflix.
