JURY DECLINES MURDER CHARGE AGAINST DAD AFTER 10 YR OLD SHOOTS AND KILLS INFANT
A St. Louis grand jury has declined to indict a 19-year-old father on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of his 7-month-old daughter.
Ca’Marion Pawnell was initially charged after his daughter, Kiyomi Parker, was shot and killed inside a home near North Broadway and Halls Ferry Road.
According to investigators, a 10-year-old boy found a handgun that had been stored underneath a mattress and accidentally shot the infant. A 7-year-old child was also inside the home at the time. Court documents state the 10-year-old told investigators he knew where the gun was kept and had handled it before.
While the grand jury declined to move forward with the murder charge, Pawnell still faces one count of endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death, along with two additional counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
