WHERE ARE THEY – FAMILY LEFT HEARTBROKEN AS ELDERLY COUPLE DISAPPEARS AFTER LAST DRIVE IN TASMANIA

A major search is underway in Tasmania’s northwest for an elderly South Australian couple who vanished during an afternoon of sightseeing.

Married couple Clementina, 81, and Peter, 79, did not tell family members where they were going and worsening weather conditions are hampering the search for them.

Family members raised the alarm when they did not return as planned on Tuesday and were unable to be contacted.

They were last seen about 2.30pm on Tuesday in Milabena, west of Burnie, where they had been visiting family before heading off for a short drive in their silver Honda CR‑V, registration S744ACB.

They did not say where they planned to go, but police believe the couple may have intended to travel through the Penguin, Gawler or Gunns Plains area.

Search and rescue teams are out across the region searching for the couple from the ground, but worsening weather has prevented the police helicopter from joining the search.

Clementina is about 150cm tall and was last seen wearing a green sherpa‑lined hoodie, blue or black pants and black lace‑up shoes.

Peter is about 170cm tall, of solid build, with grey hair and glasses. He was wearing a navy hoodie, navy track pants and New Balance sneakers.

Anyone who has seen the couple or their silver Honda CR‑V is urged to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444.
