One minute, Savier Robinson, better known as Lu Pab, was a rising figure in the rap and entrepreneurial world. The next, his life was violently cut short at just 24 in what federal authorities describe as a cold-blooded murder for hire. The date was August 19th, 2022, a day that would forever alter the lives of his family, his cousin Quando Rondo, and reverberate throughout the hip-hop community in Chicago, Savannah, and beyond.

Lu Pab was not even the intended target. According to federal indictments, the real target was Quando Rondo, whose legal name is Taian Terrell Bowman. The ambush took place near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles around 5:30 p.m. Three assailants, using multiple vehicles, including a BMW and an Infiniti, stalked Rondo’s Cadillac Escalade for hours before opening fire. At least 18 rounds were fired, including shots from a machine gun, in broad daylight. Tragically, it was Lu Pab who was caught in the crossfire. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died from multiple gunshot wounds.

This act of violence stemmed from a long-standing feud that began in November 2020 with the death of King Vaughn, Lil Durk’s protege, in Atlanta. Federal authorities allege that Lil Durk placed a bounty on Quando Rondo’s life in retaliation, turning a tragic loss into a deadly plan of revenge. Five members of the F Collective allegedly flew from Chicago to California with one mission: carry out the hit. Flights and accommodations were reportedly financed using a credit card linked to Lil Durk himself, with ski masks purchased for the attackers.

Lu Pab’s death was more than just a statistic. He was an entrepreneur, running ANS Express Carriers, a trucking company, and Supreme Exotic Frenchies, a French bulldog breeding business, all while facing serious legal pressures. He had been out on bond for two years, awaiting trial for charges under Georgia’s RICO laws, including theft, burglary, and auto-related crimes. Tragically, he was killed just one week before his scheduled court date, and all cases against him were dismissed posthumously.

His connection to hip-hop came primarily through his cousin, Quando Rondo. The two shared a strong bond, appearing in social media posts together and supporting each other’s endeavors. Lu Pab also made music under the alias Bandup Pablo, reflecting his experiences and life in drill and street rap culture. His death highlights a tragic reality: young black men in the U.S., especially in communities affected by gun violence, are often victims of conflicts that escalate from social media posts, diss tracks, or music beefs.

The legal aftermath of Lu Pab’s death has been significant. On October 24th, 2024, federal charges were announced against five members of the F Collective for conspiracy to commit murder for hire resulting in death and the use of a machine gun in a violent crime. The very next day, Lil Durk himself was arrested near Miami International Airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country. He faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder for hire and conspiracy to use interstate facilities for murder for hire, carrying life sentences if convicted.

Durk’s defense argues that the case misinterprets artistic expression, claiming the prosecution relied too heavily on rap lyrics as evidence. The ongoing legal battle also includes a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Lu Pab’s mother, Andrea Robinson, seeking accountability and damages from Durk and associated entities. The case has ignited debates about the intersection of hip-hop, street violence, and the justice system, highlighting the dangerous consequences when music and real-life conflicts collide.
