The Duke of Sussex was visibly emotional during the final stages of his evidence on the witness stand
Prince Harry fought back tears as he accused Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) of making Meghan Markle’s life an “absolute misery”.
The Duke of Sussex, giving evidence in his legal battle against ANL, the Daily Mail’s publisher, delivered an emotional statement about his wife.
“They continue to come after me, they have made my wife’s life an absolute misery my Lord,” Harry told the court.
The duke described the legal proceedings as “a horrible experience,” adding: “It’s fundamentally wrong to put us through this again when all we wanted was an apology and accountability.”

He told the court: “I’ve never believed that my life is open season to be commercialised by these people.
“(To suggest that) to act in the public interest is to interest the public.. I fundamentally reject that.
“Having my life, like others, commercialised in this way since I was a teenager, delving into every single aspect of my private life, listening into calls, blagging flights, so that they could find out where I’m going. It was a time then when everybody was in competition with each other.
“To sit here and go through this all over again and have them give their own defence and claim that I don’t have any right to any privacy is disgusting.”

Prince Harry then appeared to choke up as he claimed: “They have made my wife’s life an absolute misery,
my Lord.”
Prior to his emotional closing remarks, the duke spent approximately two and a half hours under cross-examination from ANL’s legal representative, before his own barrister David Sherborne asked him to reflect on how the process had affected him.
Harry is among several prominent figures pursuing legal action against ANL, with Sir Elton John, his husband David Furnish, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Sir Simon Hughes, Sadie Frost and Liz Hurley also named as claimants.

The group alleges that ANL obtained information through illegal methods, including intercepting phone communications and fraudulently acquiring private records.
ANL has firmly rejected all accusations of wrongdoing and continues to contest the claims.
Proceedings are scheduled to continue until March, when the trial is expected to conclude. A judgment will be delivered in written form at a subsequent date.
