A 32-year-old woman has been charged with murder after the body of her missing boyfriend was found bound in an Ohio river.

On Friday, July 25, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, Michael C. O’Malley, announced that a grand jury had indicted Dy’mond Vaden in connection with the death of George Cox Jr, according to a news release.

Cox Jr., 32, was found bound with rope and wrapped in a bed sheet by two kayakers on the Huron River in Erie County in May, having been reported missing by family members back in November 2024.

Vaden, also 32, has been indicted on two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse and having weapons under disability following her arrest on July 21, per the prosecutor office’s release.

Cox Jr. was last seen alive on Oct. 18, 2024, in the area of Bosworth Avenue and Peony Avenue in Cleveland, local news outlet Cleveland 19 reported. The release states Cox Jr.’s last known communication was on Oct. 19, 2024.

During the investigation into Cox Jr.’s disappearance, a welfare check was conducted at the apartment he shared with Vaden, per the release. Police allegedly discovered what appeared to be blood on the floor and there was very little furniture inside, with further investigation confirming the blood was Cox Jr.’s and Vaden was no longer living there.

On May 15, Cox Jr. was found dead in the river, having been tied with a marine-style rope and wrapped in sheets that matched those at the apartment, according to Cleveland 19.

His blood was allegedly found on clothing recovered from Vaden’s residence, while DNA evidence and phone records also allegedly linked her to Cox Jr.’s death, per the prosecutor office’s release.

Vaden was arrested at a residence she now shares with Emmanuel McQueen Jr., 41.

Following the discovery of a firearm at the residence, McQueen Jr. was also indicted on one count of having weapons under disability, per the release.

“George Cox Jr.’s family has waited for answers, and today they are one step closer to justice,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley said in a statement shared on Facebook.

“Fortunately for his family and the State of Ohio, CDP Homicide detectives are well-trained and smarter than Dy’mond Vaden thinks,” he added.

According to the prosecutor’s news release, Vaden and McQueen Jr. will be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center at a later date.
