Meghan Markle shared a sweet video of the father and son on the slopes

Prince Harry is passing down one of his favorite pastimes to his son, Prince Archie.

On Thursday, April 2, Meghan Markle posted a video of the father-son duo skiing down a mountain together. In the clip, Meghan follows behind them filming as Harry leads the way, traversing across the trail and turning frequently to keep an eye on 6-year-old Archie.

Archie follows his father’s lead in maneuvering back and forth on the trail at a steady pace.

“My boys. Quick learner, Archie! So proud,” Meghan, 44, captioned the clip.

Skiing has been a lifelong hobby for Prince Harry, now 41, with alpine getaways being a favorite vacation of his late mother, Princess Diana. For several years in the 1990s, she would take advantage of the Easter holiday and bring Harry and his older brother, Prince William, to the quiet town of Lech, Austria, for skiing and solitude.

Last month, PEOPLE spoke with Hannes Schneider, owner of Hotel Arlberg, where Diana and the young princes stayed for five consecutive years during those getaways.

“She had such a presence,” Schneider, 65, recalled of Diana. “She was absolutely natural, authentic. A very caring person. She really tried to take care of everybody — and at the center of that were her boys. They were the center of her universe. That was the nucleus of everything during these holidays.”

“All the other issues and whatever you were reading about didn’t influence the holiday experience of them as a family,” he added. “She was the caring, loving mother that we all loved.”

Schneider said he got to know the family well over the course of their visits, and put a premium on helping to protect the royals’ privacy as they sought a memorable family getaway.

“I remember one correspondent telling me, ‘What did you do to your people? They don’t tell us anything!’ ” he recalled of the press who came to Lech.

“We always tried to create a home away from home,” he said. “Something that was very normal for us was a huge privilege for them — to be treated as normal people.”

In his 2023 memoir Spare, Prince Harry looked back on those trips fondly, recalling how he once even dreamed of returning to the village after graduating from Eton.

“For several years I’d talked in all seriousness about working at the ski resort in Lech am Arlberg, where Mummy used to take us,” he wrote in the book. “Such wonderful memories.”

King Charles, however, wouldn’t hear of it. When Harry once floated the idea, his father responded simply: “Out of the question.”

Last June, Harry and Meghan took Archie and his younger sister, Princess Lilibet, to Disneyland in California to celebrate Lili’s fourth birthday, including rides and a Little Mermaid-themed cake.

A few months later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared on The Happiest Story on Earth: 70 Years of Disneyland — A Special Edition of 20/20, in which Harry shared how the trip brought back happy memories of his own childhood Disney vacation.

The young prince was 8 when he visited Disney World in 1993, with Princess Diana and Prince William. “I went with my mom and my brother. I remember it very, very well,” he shared in the special. “I remember losing it as a kid with all the characters. Like, losing it.”

Getting to experience the Disney magic through his children’s eyes, and even riding the same rides he did with his mother, was a special moment for Harry.

“To see the kids throw themselves into these experiences when they have no idea what they’re walking into — it was amazing,” he said. “And it brings out the kid in you again.”
