A Chicago special education teacher has disappeared without a trace, sparking fear as her husband and family desperately plead for her safe return.

Linda Brown, 53, was last seen Saturday afternoon in the 4500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Bronzeville, about two miles southwest of the White Sox’s Rate Field, driving a blue 2021 Honda Civic to her weekly acupuncture appointment before she vanished, police said.

Her husband, Antwon Brown, said they had a quiet night together at home watching a movie before she went to bed early.

“I woke up at 8:45 a.m., and she was gone,” he told Fox 32.

After hours passed with no word from her, Antwon and her family realized she never made it to her acupuncture appointment and could not be reached by phone — something they said is entirely out of character for Brown — and reported her missing to police.

Chicago police said in a bulletin that the public school teacher may need medical attention.

Brown, a special education educator at Robert Healy Elementary School, had her phone, purse and credit cards with her when she headed to the appointment.

Police said attempts to track her vehicle have turned up no leads and have provided no indication of her whereabouts.

“I’m broke down. I don’t know what to do. I’ve done everything,” Antwon said. “I’m talking to people, we’ve got people searching for her. I’m out of options.”

Brown’s brother-in-law, Lorenzo Quintana, said the family is now “looking everywhere we possibly can” for her.

Robert Healy Elementary School principal Erin Kamradt said in a letter to parents that the school is aware of Brown’s disappearance and is urging anyone with information to contact investigators.

“I know that news like this can cause many emotions, questions, and concerns for our school community,” she wrote in a letter obtained by NBC Chicago. “Please know that we are partnering with the CPS Crisis Management Unit to support our students and staff members.”

“If you feel that your child would benefit from additional social-emotional support, please do not hesitate to let us know. Our school-based mental health professionals will also be available as needed,” he added.

As the search continues, Antwon said his wife’s disappearance has left him “frightened and scared,” and her family desperately wants her found.

“We love her. We miss her. We want her to come home,” he told WLS.

Brown is described as about 5 feet tall, weighing around 130 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a long, puffy black coat and shiny UGG-style boots.
