Horrifying footage has captured the moment a Melbourne truck driver was seriously injured in a brutal assault outside his home as his family slept inside.

The 42-year-old man was leaving for work and was about to hop inside his truck parked on Brumich Way at Clyde North, in Melbourne’s southeast, when two men ambushed him about 5.30am on Thursday.

CCTV footage of the incident allegedly shows a man strike the victim in the head, sending him backwards onto the road.

A second man allegedly ran at the victim, with both men punching and kicking him as he lay on the road.

The two men fled the scene, and the victim can be seen miraculously picking himself reportedly suffering a fractured skull and broken nose.

His sister Suman told Nine News there was blood everywhere in the house and all over his face.

“They basically left him for dead and made sure when they kicked him in the head he was not moving,” she said.

“They were basically here just to kill him.”

A Victoria Police spokesman said the man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Despite a thorough search of the area, an offender was not located,” a spokesman said.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established however the incident is not being treated as a random attack.

“The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.”
