Sir Keir Starmer said it was “deeply concerning” the controversial US rapper is headlining the North London event in July.

The PM told the Sun on Sunday: “It is deeply concerning Kanye West has been booked to perform at Wireless despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism.

“Antisemitism in any form is abhorrent and must be confronted firmly wherever it appears. Everyone has a responsibility to ensure Britain is a place where Jewish people feel safe.”

West is headlining all three nights at the Wireless Festival in Finsbury Park, North London, playing to  150,000 people in total.

He has previously sold swastika T-shirts — and been pictured wearing them — and his song  Heil Hitler, released last year,  glorified the Nazi leader.

There are growing calls to ban West from the UK completely.

Phil Rosenberg, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said it was “absolutely the wrong decision” and called on the  Government to ban him from being allowed into the UK.

Holocaust Educational Trust boss Karen Pollock told the Sun on Sunday the booking “is causing distress to Britain’s Jewish community due to his previous antisemitism and support for Hitler”.

She said: “He wrote a song  entitled Heil Hitler. I know he has since apologised, but if an artist had singled out any other ethnic or religious group for such horrific abuse you’d expect them never to get a gig ever again, let alone headlining major UK festivals.
