Kaleb Cooper wiped away his tears while comforting Jeremy Clarkson after learning the news of his cancer diagnosis
To millions of television viewers, Jeremy Clarkson has long stood as an icon of pride, sharp-witted commentary, and boundless energy. Yet, behind the laughter-filled scenes of his Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds, the 66-year-old entertainer recently left his fans reeling after publicly revealing a harsh reality: he has been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer.
An Unexpected Revelation Amidst the Harvest

This shocking news was unveiled in the final episodes of the fifth season of Clarkson’s Farm. During an otherwise routine conversation with his longtime associates, Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland, the atmosphere of the familiar farm surroundings grew heavy with an unexpected somberness.
Typically known for his resilient exterior, Clarkson struggled to mask his emotion as he uttered the stark words: “I’ve got cancer.”
The shock was immediately etched onto the face of Kaleb Cooper, his dedicated partner in farm operations for many years. Struggling to process the news, Kaleb replied in disbelief: “No, you haven’t. Where?”
Jeremy Clarkson, despite facing an immense physical and mental burden, remained firm regarding his privacy: “Where it is, is of no concern of anybody. I’ve known since May.”
An Arduous Journey
According to Clarkson, the disease was identified back in May following a routine medical check-up. He underwent a biopsy, which confirmed the diagnosis. Although he noted that the tumor was caught early, which offers a more optimistic prognosis, the timing of the treatment created an agonizing dilemma. The presenter expressed his frustration that the medical schedule overlapped directly with the peak of the harvest season: “I had a medical, you remember, back in May? I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and it’s aggressive, but it’s really early so the treatment will be, you know… You may also like… I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment but it’s going to be slap bang in the middle.”
In response to these vulnerable admissions, Kaleb Cooper could not hide his emotion—eventually breaking into tears as he witnessed a mentor figure facing such a life-or-death hurdle: “Look after yourself, you go and do… if you need anything just ring.”
A Candid Confession from the Hospital Bed
In a later segment of the show, audiences were left in silence as they watched Jeremy Clarkson sitting in a hospital bed. Looking directly into the camera, he spoke with a reflective and poignant tone regarding his uncertain future: “So we started season five with me in a hospital bed and we are at the end of season five and I’m back in a hospital bed. Some of the treatment has gone awry, let’s say, I’m going to be here for a little while. I’m nil by mouth, I don’t know what’s going to happen. What I wanted to say was if this is all successful I’ll see you for season six, and if it isn’t I won’t. Take care everyone.”
Reflecting on the year behind him, Clarkson confessed with a touch of bitterness: “We started the year and I had coronary heart disease and ended it with me with cancer.” Beyond struggling with coronary heart disease earlier in the year, he is now confronting the fight against cancer. Yet, rather than succumbing to despair, he chooses to focus on the positive glimmers found at the end of the year: “We can dwell as much as we like on all the bad things that have happened on the farm, but I think it’s better now, at the end of the year, to focus on things that have happened that are good.”
Regarding the specifics of his medical intervention, he revealed he had undergone an ultrasound procedure to remove 10 percent of his prostate affected by the malignancy: “The prostate, 10 per cent of it’s dead. The 10 per cent where the cancer is.”
As of now, while his health remains a significant point of concern, Jeremy Clarkson’s work ethic remains undiminished. He continues to film for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and Prime Video has officially commissioned a sixth season of Clarkson’s Farm. Fans worldwide are currently sending heartfelt well-wishes, hoping this television icon will soon overcome this critical challenge to continue his inspiring journey.
