Police allege an altercation had broken out between three people at the property, all of whom knew one another.

Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said the 66-year-old resident, who neighbours told 9News was called Andy, had about four months ago invited a 43-year-old woman to live with him temporarily while she sought more permanent accommodation.

A 47-year-old man also stayed at the property in that time.

Galpin said the 66-year-old had more recently asked both to leave his home on several occasions, but they refused.

Yesterday afternoon, he said, the 66-year-old had come home to find himself locked out.

He forced his way into the home before the alleged fight began.

Investigators will claim that during the course of the fight, a woman stabbed a 66-year-old man.

Galpin said it would be alleged the 47-year-old man and 43-year-old woman were involved in the “serious and violent assault”.

During the fight, a male neighbour came into the house, disarmed the woman, separated the parties, and provided first aid to the 66-year-old.

Galpin praised the neighbour’s actions, and confirmed it was the 43-year-old woman who called Triple Zero.

When police and paramedics arrived, they performed CPR on the man, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Galpin said he had suffered multiple stab wounds.

The 47-year-old man and 43-year-old woman were both taken into custody from the scene in separate ambulance vehicles.

The man had his hands bagged and wrists cuffed.

A 47-year-old Karalee man has now been charged with one count of murder and will face court later today.

A 43-year-old Beenleigh woman has been charged with one count each of murder, intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and of breaching a domestic violence order.

She will also appear in court today.

Galpin said the intent to cause grievous bodily harm charge related to an allegation that the woman thrust at the neighbour with the knife when he intervened.

And he alleged she had breached a domestic violence no-contact order linked to the 47-year-old man.

Galpin said the pair had been in a relationship in the past, but he was unable to disclose their current status.

Neighbours told 9News they had heard a disturbance from the home before police arrived, including screaming.

Flowers have already been laid outside the home in tribute to Andy.

“He was a fun-loving, caring guy, down to earth,” neighbour and friend Matthew John Lloyd Sellars told 9News.

“I’ve known him for the last 20 years. We’ve been close mates. He’ll do anything for anyone.

“He was always out to help anyone.”

Galpin said the 66-year-old was a “well-liked and respected neighbour” in the “close-knit” community.
