BREAKING: Elon Musk Unveils $30 Billion ‘Super Tunnel’ Plan to Shrink New York–London Travel Time to Just 118 Minutes — ‘This Will Change the World,’ He Declares
In a jaw-dropping announcement that’s sending shockwaves through the tech and transportation industries, Elon Musk has officially confirmed a $30 billion investment into what he calls “the most ambitious transportation project in human history.”

Speaking at a surprise press conference in Austin, Texas, Musk revealed plans to build a transatlantic “Super Tunnel” that would connect New York City to London in just 118 minutes — a feat previously reserved for science fiction.
“This will change the world,” Musk said, standing in front of a holographic rendering of the tunnel system. “We’re not just shrinking travel time. We’re shrinking the planet.”
What Is the Super Tunnel?
The project, to be undertaken by The Boring Company, would use hyperloop and advanced vacuum tunnel technology to transport high-speed capsules under the Atlantic Ocean. Musk explained that the capsules would travel at speeds exceeding 1,000 km/h (620 mph) in near-vacuum tubes, making the transatlantic trip quicker than most domestic flights.
“We’ve figured out the engineering. Now it’s about execution,” Musk said confidently.
A Global Collaboration
The venture is expected to be a massive international collaboration involving American, British, and European engineers, as well as regulatory support from both governments. While the exact route and timeline remain undisclosed, Musk hinted at early excavation beginning in late 2026, with a potential test route being operational by 2030.
Public Reaction
Social media erupted within minutes of the announcement. Supporters hailed Musk as a “modern-day Da Vinci,” while skeptics raised concerns about feasibility, environmental impact, and cost overruns.
Still, Musk’s vision captivated millions:
“If he pulls this off,” tweeted one user, “we’ll remember this as the day global travel changed forever.”
The Bigger Picture
For Musk, the Super Tunnel is more than just a transport project — it’s part of his long-standing goal to “make humanity multiplanetary and interconnected.”
Whether this vision materializes remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Elon Musk isn’t done changing the world.
