After debuting on Netflix on 10 April, many viewers took to Instagram to share their thoughts. “I loved it. I was tense all the way through, but it was great,” said one person, while another said: “I was holding my breath the entire time, so intense. A phenomenal movie. I need THRASH 2.”
Meanwhile, a third penned: “Thank you, Netflix. I have been waiting for a movie like this for a long time,” and a fourth added: “I loved the movie. As a thriller/ disaster junkie, it was good.”
What have critics said about Thrash?
The film has not proved such a hit with critics, as it currently sits at a 36% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In its one-star review, The Guardian penned: “Phoebe Dynevor and Djimon Hounsou are left adrift in a suspense-free dud that has cycled through two distributors and three titles.”

However, Variety did give credit where it was due: “Shark movies, because of that derivative quality, often tend to be dreary and claustrophobic affairs. Thrash, on the other hand, has a lively competence about it, a touch of fluid originality in the staging.”
The Hollywood Reporter added: “As bloody, dumb shark thrillers go, it stays afloat, gaining some credibility from the natural disaster element.”
