The Power of the Flames Was Devastating: Five Toddlers, a Young Woman, and an Elderly Man Were Rushed to Hospital After Their Home Was Engulfed by Fire in Southeast Queensland

Five toddlers, a young woman and an elderly man have been rushed to hospital after fire ripped through a house in South East Queensland.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Leslie Pde in Stanthorpe at 8.41am on Wednesday after reports a fire had broken out.

Queensland Fire Department said the fire had started in the stairwell of a two-storey brick house, with fire crews needing to remove part of the roof of the building.

 

Paramedics treated five toddlers at the scene before they were rushed to Stanthorpe Hospital. Their exact conditions are still unknown.

A 26-year-old woman was treated for an arm injury and smoke inhalation, and an 80-year-old man was also treated for smoke inhalation.

They were both taken to Stanthorpe Hospital for treatment.

It is understood one of the injured has been airlifted to hospital in Brisbane for further treatment.

The fire crews remained on scene dampening down the house before fire investigators were tasked with determining the cause of the blaze.
