A child has died after being struck by a vehicle near a Sunshine Coast school on Monday.

A child has died after being struck by a vehicle near a Sunshine Coast school on Monday.

The accident happened near the Chancellor State College primary campus on Scholars Drive, Sippy Downs, about 4.30pm.

Emergency services attended including police, ambulance and Queensland Fire Department crews.

The child was declared dead at the scene.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson could not confirm their age or gender, or whether they were a student at the school.

They said the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating the incident.
