Forget Jamie Fraser: Sam Heughan’s ‘Wildly Funny’ New Role Just Dropped on Netflix, and Fans Can’t Cope

Netflix has added an underrated Hollywood comedy starring Sam Heughan in a very different role away from Outlander

Outlander’s Sam Heughan in ‘wildly funny’ comedy role now on Netflix
Netflix has recently introduced a beloved comedy film that’s certain to show Outlander devotees their cherished leading man Sam Heughan in a completely fresh perspective.
The Scottish charmer is most recognised for his portrayal of Highland warrior Jamie Fraser alongside Caitriona Balfe, who plays his time-hopping spouse Claire in the acclaimed Starz production.
Following over a decade on television, the popular series will conclude next year with its eighth and ultimate season, broadcasting on MGM+ through Prime Video in the UK.
Before his farewell performance as the rugged protagonist Jamie, admirers have been relishing Heughan’s contrasting characters beyond the period fantasy series, including his recent theatrical venture in Macbeth and the sultry contemporary thriller The Couple Next Door.
Now, Netflix has introduced their own contribution; the uproarious 2018 picture The Spy Who Dumped Me, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Featuring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon, the action-filled comedy chronicles two closest friends who find themselves relentlessly hunted by killers when one of their former partners is exposed as a rogue CIA operative.
Heughan plays Sebastian, amongst those chasing agent Drew (Justin Theroux) with dubious allegiances.
Devotees who have already been captivated by Heughan’s interpretation of author Diana Gabaldon’s adored Scottish heartthrob Jamie are set for an exhilarating ride if they haven’t witnessed what might be his most distant role from his breakthrough performance to date.
One Letterboxd reviewer described The Spy Who Dumped Me as “wildly funny”. “Can’t believe how many times I laughed out loud,” they continued.

“I’m 100% sure my friends would act like this if we were thrown into a spy mission. Fighting for our lives but still cracking jokes.”
Another viewer expressed: “Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon as a comedic duo are the greatest thing that has ever happened or will happen in my life.”
A third fan boldly stated: “I genuinely think this is the most underrated action comedy of all time.”
Yet another glowing review read: “Tell me that line ain’t some great writing right there. I thought this film would be funny but not THAT FUNNY! Kunis and McKinnon had me almost in tears.
“They both work so well together like peanut butter on toast. The comedy was great and the action was quite violent which kinda surprised me since I wasn’t expecting that.

“And of course I loved every moment of it like I do with any other over the top action flick. If there is a sequel, I will be there.”
Heughan’s role also received high praise on IMDb, where one viewer commented: “Sam was the best! Loved his character and loved him!” Another agreed, saying: “This movie had me laughing out loud! Cute comedy and action packed! Plus gorgeous Sam Heughan rocked it!”
Regrettably, a follow-up to the comedy-thriller never materialised, but the original remains a worthy watch, especially if you’re seeking a good laugh while wrapping up your Christmas presents.
The Spy Who Dumped Me is available to stream on Netflix.
