Netflix’s Ed Gein fans already have their next viewing sorted as the show’s lead star teams up with a Game of Thrones legend.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story quickly climbed to the top of Netflix’s viewing charts, with Ryan Murphy’s unsettling creation capturing widespread online buzz.
Much of this success stemmed from Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam’s extraordinary performance as the actual Butcher of Plainfield.
Yet The Ed Gein Story won’t mark his final appearance in the Monster franchise, as he’s lined up to portray serial killer Lizzie Borden’s father Andrew Borden in the fourth instalment.
Whilst audiences anticipate Hunnam’s return to Netflix, the 45-year0old has another compelling drama arriving imminently.

The Ed Gein actor is set to feature in Prime Video’s take on Ed Brubaker’s critically praised Criminal graphic novels, which is slated for release this year.
It’s been revealed that Hunnam will take on the lead role of Leo Patterson who, similar to Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy, navigates the underworld.
However, in the source material, fellow criminals label Leo a “coward” due to his tendency to err on the side of caution during robberies.
Yet his backstory and troubled relationship with his lawbreaking father is examined, shedding light on Leo’s self-preservation tendencies. Criminal is reportedly set to incorporate two storylines from the original comics titled Coward and Lawless.
The opening arc, Coward, follows Leo participating in a robbery that goes disastrously awry and his subsequent battle to survive the perilous consequences.
The second arc, entitled Lawless, concentrates primarily on Tracy Lawless as he comes back to his hometown seeking vengeance and truth.

Hunnam isn’t the sole recognisable presence in Criminal, with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke confirmed to portray bold and sophisticated armed thief Mallory.
She reportedly shares a “Bonnie-and-Clyde” style partnership with fellow lawbreaker Ricky Lawless, portrayed by Law and Order: Organized Crime actor Gus Halper.
Tracy Lawless will be brought to life by musical theatre star Luke Evans, celebrated for his role as Gaston in the live action version of Beauty and the Beast.
Among his most notable performances have been in Dracula Untold, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Crossing Swords and The Pembrokeshire Murders.
At present, no release date for Criminal has been announced, though it’s anticipated to arrive at some point during 2026.
Criminal will be available to watch on Prime Video.
