“I Told Him!” — Karmelo Anthony’s Emotional Words to Police After Austin Metcalf Stabbing Spark Explosive Debate

Newly released bodycam footage captures the emotional moments after Karmelo Anthony fatally stabbed high school athlete Austin Metcalf, showing the teen crying as officers escorted him away from the scene in handcuffs.

The video, made public Friday as part of the evidence from Anthony’s murder trial, shows Frisco police leading the then-17-year-old from Kuykendall Stadium and placing him in the back of a patrol vehicle following the deadly confrontation.

Throughout the footage, Anthony appears visibly distressed and repeatedly tells officers that the stabbing happened after Metcalf allegedly made physical contact with him.

“He put his hands on me. I told him not to put his hands on me,” Anthony says through tears as officers take him into custody.

The dramatic footage is part of a larger collection of trial exhibits released by Collin County Court after Anthony was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Among the newly released evidence are photographs of the knife prosecutors identified as the murder weapon. The blade was described during the trial as a $13 Walmart camping knife that was part of an Ozark Trail 6-in-1 multitool. The tool also included features such as a flashlight and a glass breaker.

According to testimony and forensic evidence presented during the trial, Anthony used the knife during an altercation with 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track meet on April 2, 2025.

An autopsy later determined that Metcalf suffered a single stab wound measuring approximately 2.5 inches deep to the left side of his chest. The injury proved fatal.

The evidence release also included graphic images documenting the wound, along with photographs of a blood-soaked jacket belonging to a Liberty High School football coach who rushed to help Metcalf and used the coat in an attempt to stop the bleeding before emergency responders arrived.

Anthony’s case attracted national attention and became one of the most closely watched criminal trials in Texas. On June 9, a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder after rejecting his claim that he acted in self-defense.

Now 19 years old, Anthony has already begun the appeals process. His attorneys filed a notice of appeal less than 24 hours after the guilty verdict was returned.

The case also drew significant public reaction after Anthony’s family received more than $635,000 through an online fundraiser launched by his mother following the fatal stabbing.

The newly released bodycam footage and trial exhibits provide the public with a detailed look at the moments after the deadly incident and the evidence that prosecutors used to secure Anthony’s conviction.
