LAS VEGAS – The talented rapper Corey Miller, known professionally as C-Murder, has been incarcerated for nearly two decades, serving a life sentence for murder. The ruling by a federal court in 2023 to deny a retrial for Miller’s case further underscores that the chances of his early release are exceedingly slim.
C-Murder’s Shocking Conviction

Corey Miller was arrested in January 2002 for the second-degree murder of a teenager. The victim, later identified as Steve Thomas, lost his life after being shot at a nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana. On August 14, 2009, Miller was officially convicted and received a life sentence.
The case has been complicated by shifting witness statements. Kenneth Jordan and Darnell Jordan admitted to providing false information. K. Jordan claimed he was threatened with a 10-year prison sentence for unrelated criminal charges, while D. Jordan alleged he was confined by the police to falsely testify. This information was revealed on the Investigation Discovery program Reasonable Doubt, which featured Miller’s case.
Update on C-Murder’s Potential Release
As of now, there is no official update regarding Corey Miller’s release from prison, despite lobbying efforts for a presidential pardon initiated by P Master. Miller is currently serving his sentence at the Louisiana State Penitentiary following his 2009 conviction.
While C-Murder remains incarcerated, hoping for release, several significant updates concerning witness testimonies have emerged. Specifically, in 2018, two witnesses retracted their initial statements. These witnesses accused authorities of pressuring and tricking them into testifying against the rapper.
Although Miller consistently maintains his innocence, and his family and brothers have repeatedly attempted to secure a new trial, hope is not entirely lost.
Miller’s attorney, Jane Hogan, expressed disappointment that their retrial attempt was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, she confidently asserted: “I am optimistic that at some point, he will be granted a hearing on his substantial claim of innocence.”
As of the current date, the likelihood of the rapper coming home is nearly zero, as no new trials or successful appeals have been granted in C-Murder’s case this year.
