The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! campmates will be in for a surprise as leeches are expected to make their way into the camp. The stars have already seen leeches in camp after diving in the pool and spotting a huge group of them, but it could be even harder to get away from them this time.
After the camp descended into chaos following a horror storm, the wet conditions will likely make the sucking parasites head straight to the site the celebs sleep. An insider has said that it’s going to be “very grim” for the contestants now. They added: “The wet weather always brings out the leeches, plus a whole host of other biting insects too. After what has seemed quite a harmonious camp, we expect it to get a little fraught from now on.”
Kelly Brook, Shona McGarty and Alex Scott have already had one run-in with the leeches and they quickly shot out of the water as quickly as they could. Kelly told the Bush Telegraph after: “We were seconds away from being covered in leeches and eaten alive. Oh my God! We just could not get out of that pool quick enough.”
Before the series started this year The Sun reported that bosses were being really cautious of the influx of leeches that were likely to make their way to camp this year due to expected downpour. It was reported that bosses could even need to consider limiting trips to the jungle waterfall as the creek typically becomes infested with leeches following heavy rain.
Giant earthworms are also expected to make an appearance alongside the leeches as they come to the surface during rainfall.
It’s not going to be a welcome treat for the celebrities, who were already off to a bad start after bosses had to implement ther emergency plan and shelter them after a “very dangerous storm” hit the area.
The campmates were forced into the Bush Telegraph where all 12 of them had to huddle together for an hour while the worst of the rain passed; filming was then delayed by up to three hours and all belongings were soaked.
They spent Monday afternoon trying to use the campfire to dry it all off. It’s not the first time the jungle has been hit with downpour, last year it was so bad that campmate Melvin Odoom previously told The Mirror he almost walked out of the show because of the awful weather.
