An ‘absolutely outstanding’ David Tennant drama has been snapped up by Netflix 12 years after its release on the BBC – and viewers have insisted that ‘it’s a must-watch’.

The Escape Artist, written and created by David Wolstencroft, hit our screens back in October 2013.

The British thriller lasted just one series and aired three episodes until it wrapped up in November the same year.

‘A junior barrister celebrated for spiriting people out of tight legal corners represents an accused murderer,’ IMBD’s synopsis reads.

And it stars the likes of David, Toby Kebbell, Sophie Okonedo, Ashley Jensen, Jeany Spark, Tony Gardner.

While it is unable to be watched on BBC iPlayer, many are over the moon that it has landed on the streaming service.

David Tennant plays protagonist Will Burton, while Toby Kebbell plays Liam Foyle, Sophie Okonedo plays Maggie Gardner and Ashley Jenson is Kate Burton.

Many love the show and have rushed online to share their rave reviews.

One wrote on Google: ‘All actors were brilliant and as for David Tennant, absolutely outstanding.’

‘Suspenseful, dark and frankly more than a bit creepy in paces. David Tennant is excellent in this.

‘The (brilliantly cast) adversary is uncomfortable to watch.

‘If you took the facial features of Tim Curry, Stephen Mangan and Steve-o and removed the menacing parts from each and smooshed them all together, you would get an oddly attractive bad guy. This is him.’

Speaking about his character, David previously said: ‘Will is a defense barrister. He’s not quite taken silk yet as they say, but very much well on his way.

‘He has the extraordinary record of never having defended anyone and lost.’

He added: ‘Will is very  career driven and very pro successful.

Many rushed online to share their thoughts over the thriller drama – and it’s all very positive

‘He manages to have a decent work life balance at the same time.

‘There are references in the script to missing the occasionally family holiday because his life at the old bailey is fairly consuming.’

David has starred in a number of successful TV shows over the years.

Some include Doctor Who, Staged, Des, The Hack, Rivals, Broadchurch and Gracepoint.
