Prince Harry may have spoken often about how he is a “spare” to his brother Prince William, but one royal expert now believes he has become a spare to his own wife too. Since quitting royal life in 2020, Harry and Meghan Markle have settled into life in Montecito, California.
While Meghan has worked on various business projects in that time, whether that be launching her brand As Ever podcasts, or even attending red carpet events, Harry has been less of a presence in California. Although this may be what Harry likes, especially as he continues to focus on his charity work, royal expert Kinsey Schofield thinks he is playing a spare-like role to his wife.
This is especially the case as he seems to have no business ventures of his own.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Kinsey said: “Prince Harry has essentially traded one hierarchy for another.
In the Royal Family, he was the spare to Prince William. In Hollywood, he risks becoming the supporting character to Meghan Markle’s ambitions
“The entertainment industry rewards relevance, star power and personal branding. Meghan has consistently demonstrated a clearer strategy and stronger command of that ecosystem.
“Harry, by contrast, has struggled to define a role beyond being ‘Prince Harry,’ which leaves him vulnerable to fading into the background.”

Harry’s last big solo project appears to be the release of his memoir Spare in 2023, which may have come with a big paycheck, but it also damaged relationships between the prince and his royal relatives.
Since then, Harry does not seem to have done much on the Hollywood stage, and instead seems primarily focused on charity work – carrying on with similar jobs that he would have done as a working royal.
While he has shown up somewhat in Meghan’s business ventures, such as brief cameos in her Netflix show “With Love, Meghan”, the duke has not had a starring role in any of her business projects.
Despite this, the 41-year-old prince did say last year that he was proud and supportive of his wife and her career ventures.
