A woman has been charged after a young man was allegedly stabbed to death at a bus interchange in Western Sydney.

Zac McRae, 19, and Vimlesh Chand, also 19, were found with stab wounds opposite Mount Druitt train station on North Parade just after 10.10pm on August 27.

McRae suffered stab wounds to the chest and died at the scene despite efforts by paramedics.

Chand was allegedly stabbed in the arm and taken to hospital in a stable condition.

He has since been released.

Following extensive investigations, police arrested a 19-year-old woman at a home in Dapto about 7am on Tuesday.

Police allege the woman drove other accused offenders to the scene.

She has been charged with murder, concealing a serious indictable offence, failing to disclose the identity of a driver or passenger, and participating in a criminal group that contributed to criminal activity.

The woman was refused bail and is due to appear in the Bail Division Local Court 3 on Wednesday.

At the time, Superintendent Darrin Batchelor said Chand was “extremely lucky to survive”.

“He sustained a stab wound … that went through the entirety of his arm and then penetrated his chest,” Batchelor said.

Two NDIS support workers told the ABC that McRae lived with intellectual disabilities, as well as oppositional defiant disorder and foetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

They said he had also been experiencing homelessness, couch surfing and living in friends’ garages.

“The system failed him, and it’s really sad because he is a vulnerable person, he had a disability,” one of the workers, Merna, said.

She described McRae as “lonely”.
