“Two Held Hostage, Gu-nman Fa-tally Sh0t: Inside the Sh0cking Fremont Care Facility Standoff”
FREMONT, Calif. — A man with a gun was killed by police at an assisted living facility in the 3800 block of Walnut Avenue in Fremont after he took two people hostage, police said Friday night.
Officers received multiple calls about the armed man about 3:38 p.m., police said.
“The man was reported to be holding a firearm and carrying a duffel bag,” police said. “The suspect was last seen in a meeting room and was reported to be holding two people hostage.”
The man was located by officers and killed, police said.
The man was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead. No officers were injured, police said.
The California Department of Justice’s Police Shooting Investigation Team has taken over the investigation, police said.
No suspects were believed to be outstanding and there was no ongoing threat to public safety, police said.
