Sh0cking Akron Sh00ting: 15-Year-Old Di-es After Attempting to Break Up Dog Attack, Teen Arrested
SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – Akron police said a 14-year-old is behind bars after detectives charged him in connection with the death of a 15-year-old boy.

According to police, Josiah Harris, known as “JoJo,” was killed after being shot during a dog attack on June 30 in Akron.
Harris was a triplet, leaving behind two sisters and a large extended family.

The Summit County Medical Examiner said the shooting happened around 7:20 p.m. in the 1200 block of Packard Drive.
Akron police said the 14-year-old boy went to Harris’ home and as he approached, Harris’ dog ran toward him and began attacking, latching onto his left arm.
While being attacked, police said the 14-year-old pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots, hitting both the dog and Harris, who was trying to pull the dog away.
The 14-year-old then ran to a nearby house, where family members called 911.
Harris was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency department about 40 minutes after the shooting.
The 14-year-old was also transported to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he was treated for injuries sustained during the dog attack. The dog was also given emergency care.
Akron police on Wednesday said the 14-year-old is charged with negligent homicide, carrying concealed weapons, improperly discharging a firearm and tampering with evidence.
He is currently being held at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
