Geismar H0micide Investigation Reaches Major Turning Point After Deputies Arrest 22-Year-Old Suspect
Investigators in Ascension Parish say a significant breakthrough has been made in the investigation into the fatal sh00ting of a Geismar woman after deputies arrested a 22-year-old man now facing multiple felony charges.
The arrest comes nearly one week after 48-year-old Shandolan Carey was found fatally wounded inside her home.
Authorities believe the suspect and the victim were acquainted before the deadly incident unfolded.
Emergency Call Led Deputies to the Scene
According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence on Kerry Road shortly before 3 p.m. after reports of gunfire.
Inside the home, they located Carey suffering from multiple g*nshot wounds.
She was pronounced d3ad at the scene, and detectives immediately began investigating the case as a homicide.
Suspect Located Days Later
Following several days of investigation, detectives identified Marquell Green as the suspect.
On June 26, deputies arrested the 22-year-old on charges including second-degree m*rder, illegal use of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Officials have not announced where Green was located or released details about the arrest operation.

While authorities confirmed that Green and Carey knew each other, investigators have not explained what led to the fatal confrontation.
