Despite Mu-r-der Charge, Search for Ja’Derrius Minnieweather Intensifies as Volunteers Stay on the Ground
Even after a murder charge was filed in the disappearance of 15-year-old Ja’Derrius Minnieweather, the search to bring him home is far from over.

The United Cajun Navy has continued expanding its search efforts across Baton Rouge and neighboring West Baton Rouge Parish, determined to locate the missing teenager and provide long-awaited answers for his family.
Search leaders say every new tip is being investigated, and volunteers remain committed until Ja’Derrius is found.

Volunteers Search New Areas Every Day
United Cajun Navy Incident Commander Josh Gill said search teams spent the latest operation covering locations throughout West Baton Rouge, including Addis, Brusly, Highway 19, the Industrial Corridor, and Highway 61.
Crews carefully searched abandoned buildings, vacant lots, overgrown properties, dumpsters, and other locations considered areas of interest.
Gill said the organization continues reviewing every piece of information received from the public while coordinating closely with Baton Rouge Police investigators.
Large-Scale Search Continues Across South Louisiana
Over recent days, volunteers have searched thousands of acres across the Baton Rouge region.
The effort has included wooded areas, industrial sites, abandoned structures, landfill locations, and properties connected to the investigation.
Search teams have also worked alongside specialized canine units while remaining ready to respond whenever law enforcement requests additional assistance.
Investigation Advances While Search Goes On
Authorities arrested 51-year-old Maurice Parms on a charge of first-degree murder after investigators gathered evidence during the case.
According to court documents, detectives believe Ja’Derrius died during a violent confrontation. However, officials have emphasized that the investigation remains active because the teenager’s body has not yet been recovered.
Police say locating him remains one of the highest priorities in the case.
Community Never Stopped Looking
Long before the murder charge was announced, dozens of volunteers joined organized searches throughout Baton Rouge.
Working alongside the United Cajun Navy, residents formed search grids through open fields, wooded areas, drainage canals, and neighborhoods where Ja’Derrius was last believed to have been seen.
Gill praised the continued support from the community, saying local residents have remained determined to help however they can.
Family Still Waiting for the Moment They Can Bring Him Home
For Ja’Derrius Minnieweather’s loved ones, the search remains about one thing—bringing the 15-year-old home.
The United Cajun Navy says it will continue following leads and searching every possible location until that happens.
Authorities continue asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact Baton Rouge Police or Crime Stoppers as the search enters another week.
