😱 BOMBSHELL: Bec Speaks Out on Sh0ck Surgery Controversy After Dom Accuses Her of Faking It for a ‘PR Move’

MAFS fam, if there’s one “heart-stopping” story this week, it’s Bec Zacharia’s journey in Bali. The most controversial bride of the 2026 season flew to Bali to undergo a controversial rib contouring procedure – a surgery not yet approved in Australia, often referred to as the “Barbie waist” .

But at the last minute, Bec decided to back out. She walked into the hospital, ready for surgery, but then she stopped and asked herself: “Am I ready? Is this what I really want?”

Bec explained that she needs more time to think and that no one pressured her to proceed with the surgery . She will stay in Bali for another week to “reflect, journal, and even seek guidance from a spiritual healer” before making a final decision .

Let’s break down this dramatic story.

Bec Zacharia and Her Controversial Transformation Journey

1. The “Barbie Waist” Surgery – A Controversial Rib-Shaping Technique

Bec flew to Bali with other reality TV stars, including MAFS 2025 bride Awhina Rutene, to undergo rib contouring surgery . This procedure uses ultrasound technology to reshape the “floating ribs” (the bottom two pairs of the rib cage) to narrow the waist and create an hourglass figure .

This surgery, sometimes called the “Barbie waist,” is growing in popularity on social media but remains controversial and is not yet approved in Australia .

2. The Last-Minute Decision: “I’m Not Ready”

In an episode of the MAFS Funny podcast, Bec shared the moment she stood at the threshold of surgery :

“I walked in and I thought, ‘Am I ready? Is this what I want to do?’”

She stressed that the company that organized the trip did not pressure her, and she has full autonomy to decide . Bec said she would take time to “think, rest, and figure out what she truly wants” .

3. Backlash from Fans and Fellow Contestants

Bec’s decision sparked a wave of fierce criticism. Many accused her and other influencers of promoting a dangerous surgery and perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards .

Former MAFS bride Domenica Calarco strongly criticized the move:

“Call me Karen, but getting the most insecure women to go and permanently change their bodies like this while promoting it… shame shame shame.”

One fan commented: “Repositioning your ribs isn’t going to solve a loose skin issue. Sorry, but this is just mental behaviour.”

Bec hit back by saying: “It’s my body, my choice” . However, she also admitted she has “a lot of loose skin” and feels “extremely vulnerable” .

4. Bec’s Transformation Journey

Before heading to Bali, Bec shared her journey of losing 27kg. She said she had “hated herself her whole life” and felt ugly .

“I’ve worked really hard. I was keto, then I got into Pilates and weight training, and I transformed myself. I thought, if I can love myself, why can’t someone else?”

Bec also underwent reconstructive jaw surgery at age 21, performed by her uncle, Dr Michael Zacharia . The surgery was life-changing and boosted her confidence significantly .

5. Criticism from Domenica Calarco and Bec’s Response

Beyond public backlash, Bec faced criticism from fellow MAFS bride Domenica Calarco. Dom suggested the entire Bali trip was a “PR stunt” to improve Bec’s public image .

Bec responded by saying she and Domenica used to be friends, but she has since blocked Dom on social media due to her toxic comments .

A Lesson in Health and Self-Determination

Bec Zacharia’s story is a reminder of the power of social media in shaping beauty standards and a warning about the risks of unregulated cosmetic surgeries.

Though Bec backed out at the last minute, her journey has sparked an important conversation about safety, health, and personal autonomy over one’s own body.
