Come Back to Us…: 22-Year-Old Groom-to-Be Sh-o-t De-a-d Weeks Before the Wedding He Never Got to Have
A young Melbourne tradie who was due to be married within weeks has been shot dead in the city’s north, leaving his family shattered by a loss they described as “beyond words”.
Daniel Hussein, 22, was shot once in the chest on Victoria Dr in Thomastown shortly after 7.30pm on Sunday.
Victoria Police homicide squad detectives are investigating the fatal shooting after emergency services were called to the scene outside a property.
“Despite efforts to revive the man … he was declared deceased at the scene,” police said.
“No arrests have been made at this stage.”

Daniel’s father, Taleb, returned to the scene early on Monday morning.
He told the Herald Sun his son had been with friends at HR Uren Reserve before the shooting.
He described Daniel as a hardworking plumber who was always on the job and was preparing to get married in just a few weeks.
In a Facebook tribute, Daniel’s uncle Abdallah Hussein described the family’s grief as overwhelming.
“The pain of losing you is enormous and beyond words,” Mr Hussein wrote.
“You were not only my nephew. You were a piece of my heart. A part of my life. A child I helped carry into this world, and someone I thought would be there until the end of mine.”

A witness who was at the scene described the terrifying moments after the shot rang out.
“I was there. I had to run and call the police. I saw it all,” the person wrote on social media.
“I was terrified. I saw him get shot right in front of me.”

Another witness, Annie, who lives across from HR Uren Reserve, told the Herald Sun she heard the gunshot and ran outside, where she found Daniel on the ground.
“It was traumatic, it was just such a heartbreaking thing to watch,” Annie told the publication.
“Everyone was screaming out his name, ‘Come back to us. We’re all here’.”
It is understood Daniel had been with two friends, who called for an ambulance, before his brother arrived at the scene a short time later.
