A serious workplace accident occurred on Monday afternoon in the Laverton North area, west of Melbourne, claiming the life of a 55-year-old male worker.

According to reports, the incident took place around 2:00 p.m. when the scissor lift the victim was operating struck power lines. The collision resulted in fatal electrocution. The man’s identity has not yet been officially released by authorities.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene on Geelong Rd to conduct rescue operations; however, the victim did not survive. Footage from the scene captured by 7News reveals a scene of deep sorrow, showing the victim’s colleagues comforting one another following the sudden loss.
Currently, local police are working with relevant authorities to finalize a report for the coroner. Police have stated that the incident is not being treated as suspicious. Furthermore, a spokesperson for Victoria Police confirmed that WorkSafe has been notified of the accident and is conducting an investigation into the cause.
