Rihanna and A$AP Rocky made a grand entrance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Met Gala in New York City May 4, marking their first carpet appearance since they survived a shooting at their Los Angeles home in March.
At the charity event, the nine-time Grammy winner honored the theme of “Costume Art” by wearing a Maison Margiela creation featuring over 115,000 crystal beads and antique jewels. The bodiced gown—sculpted by hand with a bronze hooded cape—took over ook 1,380 hours to make, according to Vogue.
Meanwhile, her partner—father to their son RZA, 3, son Riot, 2, and daughter Rocki, 7 months—donned a pink wool pink robe with black satin lapels and matching piping custom designed by Chanel. (See all the celebrity fashion looks here.)
As always, Rihanna was one of the most anticipated arrivals at the annual fundraising event. After all, the 38-year-old is known for her head turning looks—and turning up last minute to close out the show.

Most Unforgettable Met Gala Moments of All Time
Last year, when Rocky co-chaired the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” gala, the couple used famed steps as the perfect place to reveal her baby bump, sharing news that they were expecting their third child.
Motherhood has even shaped her sense of style, as she quipped during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in January that it was “impossible” to pick a favorite runway look.
“I wanted the coats, I wanted the dresses,” she said in an interview posted on TikTok, “I wanted the skirts with a little bump right here [at the stomach] ‘cause I got a little pouch after having kids, so I’d love that.”

The Fenty Beauty founder also attended the Met Gala while pregnant in 2023, wearing a bridal-like maternity gown to honor Karl Lagerfeld as she was about seven months along with Riot.
At other past Met Galas, Rihanna has donned pieces by everyone from Stella McCartney to John Galliano, who fashioned her iconic Pope-inspired look for the Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme in 2018 when she also served as a co-chair of the event.
And while the Savage X Fenty founder has been busy—even getting back in the studio!—it’s not surprising she made time for the Met, as fashion and eye-catching red carpet moments are among the many things the “Love on the Brain” singer is known for.

“I can never get enough of Rihanna’s style,” Global Chief Content Officer of Condé Nast Anna Wintour said in a 2019 Vogue video. “I think there’s a real love for fashion that Rihanna has that—how lucky are we to be able to enjoy it.”
