A girl plunged from a ski lift and narrowly missed a safety net

The shocking footage showed an urgent operation was underway to save the snowboarder following their fall. In the clip, the 12-year-old could be seen gripping a person’s hand tightly as they dangled about 26 feet from the slope for about 15 minutes.

Staff raced to assist, by dragging padding and a net under her in a bid to catch her. Despite their efforts, the woman missed the net entirely and fell to the ground.

Moments after the incident at California’s Mammoth Mountain, the woman thankfully lifted her head. The clip was then shared to TikTok by influencer Hello Kristen and was captioned: “Horror moment woman plunges from ski lift and misses safety net.”

It added: “I wasn’t going to post this but I know so many people who argue with me about putting the bar down. It’s mandatory in Europe and it should be here.”

The woman’s mum said her daughter slipped as she entered the lift and did not have a chance to pull the safety bar down, reports KTLA. She added her daughter was not seriously injured in the fall.

The mum continued: “My daughter miraculously walked away with no broken bones or major injuries. “there was nothing that anyone did wrong.”

She said while the incident was awful, her daughter survived and will ride the slopes again when she is ready.

One person, who claimed to know the family, said in the comment section of the video that no one suffered major injuries. Commenters described what happened as their “literal nightmare as a child” and that it resembled a “scene from a horror movie.”

In a separate horror incident, an Australian woman tragically died in a freak accident at a ski resort in central Japan. Brooke Day, 22, was using a ski lift at Tsugaike Mountain Resort in Otari, Nagano Prefecture, on Friday morning when part of her backpack became caught in the lift mechanism, leaving her suspended in mid-air.
