A mother who aspired to be a nurse has been revealed as the victim of a murder allegedly at the hands of her husband.

Police and paramedics were called to a home on West Avenue in Northfield, Adelaide at around 8.30pm on Sunday following reports of a domestic assault.

Supriya Thakur, 36, was found unconscious by police, and could not be revived.

A close friend paid tribute to her, calling her a devoted mother.

“She should be remembered as a really, really beautiful mother, as a really good friend,” Ella Butler said.

Thakur’s husband, 41-year-old Vikrant Shirikrishna Thakur, was arrested at the scene, and has now been charged with murder.
