Trio arrested after man gunned down

Two men and a woman have been arrested days after 22-year-old Daniel Hussein was shot and killed in Melbourne’s north.

​Hussein was gunned down​ near the HR Uren Reserve on Victoria Dr in Thomastown about 7.30pm on Sunday.

Emergency services arrived soon after, but despite their best efforts, he died from his injuries.

Dozens of tributes have since been posted to social media for the plumber who was due to marry in the coming weeks.

Three days later, on Thursday, police announced three people had been arrested in Deer Park, about 25km southeast.

The two men from Donnybrook, aged 19 and 20, and a 19 year old woman from Lalor are now being interviewed by detectives from the Homicide Squad.

No charges have been laid.

Police investigating a fatal shooting in Melbourne’s north over the weekend have arrested three people, including two teenagers.

Daniel Hussein, 22, was shot in front of friends at HR Uren Reserve in Thomastown at about 7:30pm Sunday.

Paramedics tried to revive Mr Hussein in front of his loved ones and several shocked onlookers, but he died at the scene.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old Donnybrook man, a 20-year-old Donnybrook man and a 19-year-old Lalor woman over the shooting.

They were arrested in Deer Park at about 5:50pm Wednesday and are being interviewed by Homicide Squad detectives.

Relatives said Mr Hussein, a plumber, was engaged to be married and had recently bought a house.

“He had his whole life ahead of him,” his brother said at the scene of the shooting earlier this week.

Mr Hussein’s uncle, Abdallah Hussein, said he had never imagined he would have to say goodbye to his nephew.

“I still cannot believe you are gone,” he wrote on social media.

“I still cannot understand that I will never see your smile again, never hear your voice, never watch you walk through that door again.”

The shooting occurred near the Lalor Soccer Club, where junior matches had been played several hours earlier.

Victoria Police said investigation was ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
