Manhunt Continues for Suspected Gunman as Police Release Images of White Ute in NSW Central West
Police are continuing an intensive search for a man accused of shooting three people dead in the New South Wales central west, as authorities release new images of a white utility vehicle believed to be linked to the alleged killings.
Julian Ingram, also known as Julian Pierpoint, is wanted by police over the fatal shootings, which have sent shockwaves through the region and prompted a large-scale operation involving specialist police units. The 37-year-old remains at large and is considered dangerous, with police urging the public not to approach him under any circumstances.
Investigators say Ingram was last seen driving a white dual-cab Ford Ranger utility with NSW registration DM-07-GZ. On Wednesday, police released images of the vehicle in the hope that members of the public may recognise it or recall seeing it travelling through regional or remote areas in recent days.
The shootings, which occurred earlier this week, left three people dead and triggered an immediate emergency response. Police have not released full details about the circumstances of the incident, citing the ongoing investigation and the need to protect its integrity. Multiple crime scenes were established, with forensic officers working for several days to gather evidence.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Holland said the release of the vehicle images marked a significant step in the investigation and renewed the appeal for information.

“We are asking anyone who has seen this vehicle, or who has information about the whereabouts of Julian Ingram, to contact police immediately,” he said. “Even information that may seem minor could prove crucial.”
Police believe Ingram may be travelling through less populated areas in an attempt to avoid detection. Reports of possible sightings in small towns and rural districts have been assessed, though none have yet resulted in his arrest. Authorities have not confirmed whether the suspect has access to firearms, but warned he may still be armed.
Residents across the central west have described an atmosphere of unease as news of the manhunt spread. In the hours following the shootings, additional police patrols were deployed along major roads, and PolAir was used to assist in the search. Some schools and community facilities were placed on heightened alert as a precaution.
Local community leaders have expressed condolences to the families of the victims, describing the incident as devastating for an area where violent crime of this nature is rare. “This has shaken everyone,” one local resident said. “It’s the kind of thing you never expect to happen in a small regional community.”
Ingram is described as Caucasian, about 180 centimetres tall, with a medium build. Police have urged anyone who sees him, or the Ford Ranger, not to approach but to contact emergency services immediately. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
Authorities have emphasised that the release of the images does not necessarily mean there has been a confirmed recent sighting of the vehicle. Rather, it forms part of a broader strategy to track the suspect’s movements and piece together his actions following the alleged shootings.

“This investigation is moving quickly, and we are following a number of lines of inquiry,” Detective Superintendent Holland said. “Our priority is the safety of the community and bringing this matter to a resolution as soon as possible.”
The alleged killings have also reignited discussion about gun violence in regional Australia. While firearms are commonly used in rural areas for legitimate purposes such as farming and pest control, fatal shootings remain uncommon and deeply distressing when they occur.
Support services have been made available to affected families, community members and first responders. Police confirmed specialist officers are working closely with local services to provide assistance during what has been described as an extremely difficult time.

As the search continues, investigators are appealing for dashcam footage, CCTV recordings or any information relating to unusual movements of a white Ford Ranger utility in recent days. Police say the vehicle may have travelled significant distances and may no longer be in the immediate area.
NSW Police reiterated that the manhunt remains their highest priority.
“We are committed to locating the person responsible and ensuring the safety of the public,” a police spokesperson said. “We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
