Mystery Deepens as Police Reveal Ann Widdecombe Was Believed Attacked Nearly 24 Hours Before Her Bo-dy Was Found
Police are continuing to investigate the violent death of Ann Widdecombe.
The former MP, 78, was found dead at her home in Haytor on Dartmoor after officers were called by the ambulance service on Thursday morning.
Devon and Cornwall Police say Miss Widdecombe was found with serious injuries. In a press conference at 5.45pm on Friday, July 10, the force confirmed a 26-year-old man had been arrested as part of the murder inquiry.
However, on Saturday police said the man had been released and was no longer part of the investigation.
Police now think she was attacked the day before she was found.
In a new statement released on Saturday, July 11, Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman: “We believe the attack took place on Wednesday July 8 at around 12.30pm.
“Our inquiries are moving at pace for a suspect who is believed to be a white male.”
