On Thursday, a tot was hurled 15ft into a crocodile enclosure at Johnsons of Old Hurst zoo in Cambridgeshire.

The boy landed on a concrete walkway, resulting in a suspected broken arm and pelvis — and then ended up in the water.

It’s believed that the boy had been bitten by either a saltwater or Nile crocodile, with the former known for having the strongest bite of any living animal.

Visitors can pay £80 to feed the dangerous reptiles for 30 minutes.

The child was visiting the zoo with his mother, who also had a baby with her, reports The Times.

Detectives from Cambridgeshire police’s major crimes unit have been given CCTV by the zoo and are assessing the footage.

Tracey Johnson, who owns and runs the zoo, was one of the first to jump in after the child.

Her husband, Andrew clambered in after her, along with their son Edward.

The three of them bravely rescued the child, and prised him away from the grip of one of the beasts.

A man, 30, from Norfolk, was held on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident, but was released on bail after an assessment of “not being fit for interview”.

The Sun understands the suspect, who has learning difficulties, was accompanied by two carers at Johnsons of Old Hurst, near Huntingdon, on Thursday.

Cops are currently assessing the role of the carers who were meant to be supervising the vulnerable adult during the outing.

It comes as Wowcher has issued a grovelling apology after sending a sick email to millions of customers mocking a toddler who was mauled by a crocodile as he battles for his life in hospital.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary said in a statement: “A three- year-old boy from Cambridgeshire remains at Addenbrooke’sHospitall in a critical but stable condition following an incident at Johnsons of Old Hurst.

“The boy, who sustained serious injuries while in the [crocodile] enclosure,
was pulled out by staff from the zoo and received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital.

A 30-year-old man from Norfolk, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on bail while detectives from our major crime unit conduct further inquiries regarding this incident.

“The man, who is not known to the victim, was assessed as not being fit for interview.”
