“THEY TARGETED US!” The Block’s Chantel & Wyatt Break Their Silence on SHO-CK Claims About Production

‘Breaking point.’

Things didn’t add up when The Block’s Chantel and Wyatt were accused of blowing their Guest Bedroom Week budget – and the Gold Coast couple still believe they were unfairly singled out.

“We felt personally antagonised towards the end of the week, leading into judging,” personal trainer Wyatt tells TV WEEK. “So this felt like it wasn’t as much a mistake as a good storyline.”

Their frustrations only grew when they discovered Courtney and Sev had also overspent but weren’t called out on it.

“We think we were targeted to stir up drama because of how much we talked about integrity and how good we are with budgeting outside The Block,” says Wyatt, 30. “We felt they saw this as a trigger point for us and knew it would create a reaction.”

Ironically, Courtney and Sev walked away with the room win despite blowing their budget, something mother-of-three Chantel says forced them to rethink their own strategy.

“After seeing Court and Sev overspend and play the game and get rewarded for it, we felt that if we started to overspend too, we might be rewarded.”

The confusion didn’t stop there.

“We believe Darren Palmer’s advice in week one was the best – it’s what we came into the competition envisioning for our space,” explains Chantel, 32.

“But we felt the brief kept changing slightly each week and we wanted to stay true to our initial vision.”

The combined controversies pushed the couple to breaking point.

“I’d say this was our lowest point mentally,” Chantel admits. “We had such a big decision to make and not knowing what came next was really hard. The Block is a rollercoaster of high highs with just as many low lows.”
