Andrew Ure, the lead singer of Falkirk band The Ray Summers, has died. Tributes have flooded in for the late Scots star after he died after he went out hillwalking. It has been reported that the father of two, who celebrated his 41st birthday just last week, had gone out to try some new walking gear but never made it home.

His brother shared a statement where he thanked the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team. He said: “On Hogmanay, Andy was buzzing about what 2026 had in store for us – but firstly about getting out for a hill walk in all his new birthday gear. Sadly, he didn’t make it home. Massive thanks to the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team who the family are truly indebted to.”

He continued: “So many people have lost a part of their world, as he meant so much to many. For me, I’ve lost my wee brother, my best pal, my business partner, my sounding board, and the daily reason I used my phone. Heartbroken doesn’t even come close.”

Andrew was the lead singer of the band The Ray Summers, who shared a tribute online to their bandmate. They wrote in a heartfelt post: “Andy was not only the rock in our band, he was the rock in our lives. This hurts so so much. All our love & strength goes out to Andy’s Linsey & his two wee boys, his family & all that were so lucky to know him.”

The band had a successful career and previously supported Paolo Nutini and Doves. While Andrew was a professional singer, he was also a director of the Wee Whisky Shop in Linlithgow, West Lothian.

The shop’s social media page also wrote some kind words in memory of Andrew. They said: “It is with profound sadness that we share the news that one of our directors, Andrew Ure, passed away on 31st December, 2025. Words cannot fully express the pain of this loss and our thoughts are with Andrew’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

“Thank you to everyone who has already reached out with their kind messages and condolences.”

Partner Linsey Waddell also shared a photo of Andrew as she said: “On your birthday, you wanted to look at the stars with me. Little did I know the next day you would be one of those stars. You were my guiding light and the biggest star of all.”

The Poachers band also shared a tribute on X: “Everyone in The Poachers was saddened to learn of the much too early passing of The Ray Summers front man Andrew Ure on Hogmannay. Andrew was an incredible force on stage and great company off it. Our thoughts are with his friends n family.”

Fans have since taken to social media to pay tribute, with one writing: “I remember vividly one of the gigs in Dundee, one of the best nights of my life. Devastated for all his friends and family.”

A second penned: “Devastating news. Andy was a incredible man, outstanding singer and frontman. My thoughts are with his family and friends.” While a third went on to say: “Absolutely devastated for Andy. For you all, for his family, his fans. Truly heartbreaking. Some of my fave moments in time are Ray Summers. Sending love.”
