A royal commentator believes King Charles must take serious action.

A royal commentator is convinced that King Charles must cut ties with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the same way he has with Andrew Mounbatten-Windsor. The former Duke of York, 66, brought a fresh wave of embarrassment and shame on the Royal Family following the release of the latest tranche of Epstein files at the end of January. Andrew had already been stripped of all his remaining titles due to his links with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, but the release of the three million more documents by the Department of Justice plunged the Royal Family into further chaos.

After Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, Charles said “the law must take its course”. While many have questioned the future of the monarchy, Kinsey Schofield insists that the Sussexes, who stepped down from their role as working royals in 2020, are causing just as much controversy as Andrew following their recent trip to Jordan.

The couple spent two days in the Middle East to highlight the humanitarian efforts by the Jordanian authorities and several agencies supporting the health and wellbeing of Syrians and Palestinians.

Speaking on TalkTV, Kinsey said: “It puts the king’s authority in jeopardy. I look at this and I see Harry forcing this half-in, half-out arrangement that Queen Elizabeth said ‘absolutely not’ to.

“The Sussexes derive that global relevance from this very institution that they now operate outside of and if they continue to behave like freelance royals, conducting fake, diplomatic appearances, while no longer representing anything but themselves, I think this jeopardises the king’s reign.”

She continued: “It raises serious constitutional and reputational questions about what the palace can do, control wise, over these people. Andrew’s downfall was fundamentally about damaging associations and reputational risks.

“The lesson from that crisis should have been zero tolerance for any activity that blurs official status, diplomatic sensitivity or personal branding with royal identity. Instead, we’re watching a similar pattern unfold.”

TalkTV presenter Peter Cardwell raised the question of what action could be taken regarding the Sussexes, prompting Kinsey to suggest that King Charles should consider removing Harry from the line of succession like the government is with Andrew.

She added: “I think in the process of removing Andrew from the line of succession, if the government does pursue that, I think Harry should be thrown into the mix. I believe that Harry and Meghan’s titles should be removed.

“While they have not been accused as something even remotely as salacious as Andrew has been accused of, it is guilt by association.”

Highlighting that Tyler Perry – the godfather of Harry and Meghan’s daughter Lilibet – has been taken to civil court for sexual assault and harrassment, Kinsey declared: “They need to be careful who they associate themselves with.”

The royal commentator went on: “If the institution wants to protect its credibility, it cannot allow part-time royals to continue projecting the image of official authority from outside the system and that is exactly what this is.

“It’s my understanding that Harry, certainly Meghan, but Harry has little to no contact with his family. He is not there representing the British Royal Family. Who is he there representing? Why is he there as an authority figure?”

She concluded: “I think the Royal Family needs to do everything in their power to cut ties before we have Andrew 2.0 on our hands.”
