Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton’s once-tight relationship is coming apart at the seams.
After Monty (Jon Hamm) died in the season 1 finale of Landman, his wife Cami (Moore) took over as head of his oil company, M-Tex, with Tommy (Thornton), her longtime friend and Monty’s longtime ally, as her number two.
Landman season 2 has seen the relationship between Cami — who is grieving Monty’s sudden death and out of her depth running the company — and Tommy — who is always juggling a hundred disasters and now has the added stress of his estranged father, T.L. (Sam Elliott), returning to his life — begin to erode.
She doesn’t like that he’s leaving her out of important conversations, so she bulldozes her way into them and agrees to a partnership with newcomer Danny Morrell (Andy Garcia) despite Tommy’s vehement opposition.
In the Dec. 21 episode, Danny and Tommy have something of a heart-to-heart, as Danny confesses that he gets the “sense” that Cami doesn’t trust Tommy.

“Me and her husband started out together. So at one point, I had a version of what she has,” Tommy explained. “But I didn’t hedge it — crash of ’08 pretty much cleaned me out. So I went to work for her husband.”
“She don’t trust me ’cause she thinks I’m a loser,” Tommy admitted of Cami. “And she thinks I’m gonna lose her fortune.”
Danny warned that Tommy needs to “do something about that,” as he said, “When those sharks smell her doubt in you, they’re gonna poison her with reason to get rid of you.”
Garcia’s character made his entrance in the season 1 finale as he saved Tommy’s life after a cartel kidnapped and tortured him. Their introduction made for some major distrust from Tommy about Danny’s business propositions, though Cami ignored his warnings
Getting an offer to join the show was “like Shakespeare calling and saying, ‘I want to write this part called Hamlet for you,’” Garcia, 69, told PEOPLE. “It was an easy yes.”
He called Thornton, 70, a “sublime actor who I respect so deeply,” and said of how he’s integrated into the cast: “We get on really well.”

After filming the season 1 finale scene where he was introduced, Garcia recalled the hilarious comment Thornton made. “When we did our scene, he says, ‘It’s great. Two old vets getting together.’ He’s like, ‘You want to go play some cards? Have some tea?’ “
The whole cast is so “warm-hearted,” the Oceans star added, noting he and Moore, 63, “had a good time in our scenes.”
