Hip-Hop mogul Master P says he would have never signed on for the highly anticipated Verzuz featuring Cash Money Records and No Limit Records if he had known Lil Wayne wasn’t going to be part of it.

According to the No Limit founder, the original vision for the event was to hold it in New Orleans as a celebration of the city’s rich Hip-Hop legacy. Master P says the idea was meant to unite the two iconic labels that helped shape Southern rap and showcase the culture where it all started.

However, P claims the situation changed behind the scenes. Instead of taking place in New Orleans, the event was moved to Las Vegas — something he says he didn’t initially plan for. He also expressed disappointment that Lil Wayne ultimately didn’t appear, explaining that Wayne’s presence would have made the moment feel complete.

For Master P, the battle was meant to be bigger than just music. He says the goal was to create a historic moment for New Orleans and celebrate the city’s influence on Hip-Hop. Without Wayne involved, though, P believes the event didn’t fully capture the spirit he originally envisioned.
