Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have reportedly reunited with their grandfather, King Charles, during a private family gathering at Highgrove House, marking the children’s first in-person meeting with the monarch in four years.
Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday, July 10, that King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Archie and Lilibet to the King’s private Gloucestershire residence for a private family meeting.
The Palace emphasized that the gathering was a personal family occasion, adding that no photographs would be released and no further details would be shared.
A Long-Awaited Family Reunion
The meeting marks the first time King Charles has seen Archie, now 7, and Lilibet, 5, since the Sussex family’s visit to Britain for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.
Since stepping back as working members of the Royal Family in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan have been raising their children in Montecito, California, making opportunities for family reunions relatively rare.
According to People, Meghan and the children flew to Britain from a family holiday in Europe specifically for the private gathering.
Highgrove Chosen for the Meeting
Rather than meeting at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle, the family gathering took place at Highgrove House, King Charles’ private country residence in Gloucestershire.
The location allowed the reunion to take place away from public attention while Harry continued his UK engagements connected to the Invictus Games.
Earlier that same day, Harry attended Invictus events in Birmingham while King Charles carried out official engagements in Oxfordshire before traveling to Highgrove.
Meghan and the Children Stay Out of the Spotlight
Although Meghan, Archie and Lilibet reportedly arrived in Britain, they are not expected to participate in any public engagements during the visit.
Their trip is understood to be focused entirely on private family time rather than official royal duties.
Throughout the week, security arrangements remained a major factor in planning the Sussex family’s visit.
William Not Present
Prince William was not part of the reported family gathering.
The Prince of Wales spent Friday competing in the annual DMMI Royal Charity Polo Cup, where he was supported by Princess Catherine.
There are no announced plans for Prince Harry and Prince William to meet during Harry’s current visit to Britain.
